The Liberal Arts Teaching Buildings are located at the triangle lot in the northwest corner of Shenzhen University, close to the crossing of Shennan Avenue and Nanyou Avenue. The undulating site, whose southeast side is higher than the northwest side, is characterized with an inner lake, natural stone and lychee trees.
The northwest part of the design follows a north-south layout, echoing the roads in both parallel and perpendicular ways. The layout also strengthens the existing south-north layout of the campus and integrates into the campus' existing spatial network. The planning road passes the southeast corner of the site in an inclined way. In order to shape a coherent spatial interface and provide an organized and grand image of the main entrance, the southeast part of the design is perpendicular to the planning road and thus leaves a 38 degree angle with the south. The inclined axis also echoes with Technology Building, which is the campus landmark. At the northwest side of the campus, the design creates an integral and ordered spatial effect of the building complex.
